QBPC and Hong Kong Customs Sign MOU for Future Cooperation

On March 14, during the Regional High-Level Conference on Intellectual Property organized by Customs and Excise Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HK Customs), Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HK Customs. The MOU was signed by Michael Ding, QBPC Chair and Wong Chung-shun, Assistant Commissioner (Intelligence and Investigation) of HK Customs. Cao Hongying, Executive Vice President of CAEFI, and Louise HO Pui-shan, Commissioner of the Customs and Excise Department witnessed this signing ceremony.

According to the MOU, the two parties will encourage, strengthen and promote co-operation in various aspects of IP protection, adopt multiple approaches to IP protection as a long-term strategy, strengthen collaboration between the IP industry and HK customs, as well as assisting HK customs in effectively enforcing the law and combating cross-border infringements.

Michael moderated the panel discussion on the topic “G2B Partnership Safeguarding IP Assets Opportunities”. He emphasized the importance of G2B partnerships in safeguarding IP, leveraging the strength of relevant parties to protect IP effectively and creating synergy through collaboration. The panelists and Michael shared their insights, experiences, and best practices in fostering partnerships for IP protection, as well as exploring the role of government policies, regulations and incentives in promoting collaboration between governments and businesses. Michael hoped that the panel discussion would promote international IP cooperation among stakeholders.
