On January 31, the Quality Brands Protection Committee of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) Agricultural IWG held the first online meeting in 2024. The meeting was chaired by IWG Coordinator Sam Fan, and 13 representatives from 6 member companies attended the event.
Sam Fan introduced in detail the work plan for this year and solicited members' opinions. The participants discussed whether the unlicensed production of pesticides was applicable to the crime of illegal business operation and illegal export of pesticides. In view of rampant sale of counterfeits on specific internet platforms, the Agricultural IWG would join other IWGs and strengthen cooperation with the Internet Committee, collect materials and push the platforms for positive feedback. With regard to the communication with law enforcement departments, the participants believed that the IWG should try to build communication channels with relevant courts as well as sharing more case information with the customs in addition to maintaining contact and cooperation with the relevant market regulation agencies and public security organs.
At the end of the meeting, Sam Fan said that in the new year, the Agricultural IWG would make full use of the QBPC platform as well as the resources of each committee, actively carry out various activities, attach importance to the opinions and suggestions of IWG members, and strive to contribute to the protection of IPR in the agricultural industry.
